The focus of the open house is to apprise the oncology community and its patients about the choices available to girls that will lose their hair when undergoing medical therapies. “Many oncologists and nurses have told me that one of the largest stumbling blocks that ladies face when they're diagnosed as having cancer and have to bear chemo is “what about my hair?” said Rhonda McCarthy, director of communications for Recover confidently. “As tricky as it could be for a woman facing a life-threatening illness, the prospect of losing her hair adds to her anxieties”, according to McCarthy, “many ladies feel completely overwhelmed at the concept of having to deal with baldness along with the rest.

“We put on these open houses round the country to ease a woman’s uneasiness and make this as easy as we can for her”, concluded McCarthy ; “a lady facing chemotherapy or other treatments has enough things on her mind. Her hair loss should not be one of them.” Subjects to be covered at the open house will include the discussion of hats and scarves vs pieces, the simplest way to choose a wig, and how women can integrate their new hair into their lives to “recover with confidence”. All are welcome, and their attendance will be kept strictly confidential.
